Host A Dance Party

The great thing about the Vermont 350 Dance Party is that everyone can participate.

Thanks to the magic of the interwebs, you can have a dance party in your own community with the live feed from Higher Ground!

How do you do it?

1) Find a venue. Could be a living room, a barn, a community center, a church, a high school auditorium, or a town hall.  The one thing the venue needs is internet access or cable TV.

2) Get Some Tech. You’ll need a computer (or TV if we’re on cable).  That’s all.  If you want to get fancy, get some speakers, a projector, and a blank wall or a big screen.

3) Tell Folks. Publicize your dance party to your friends and community.  We’ve got some posters you can download here.

4) Tell Us. Sign up with us by filling out this form so we can post your dance party on the website.

5) Join Us. On Saturday, October 24, at 9 pm, connect to the concert on:

If you want, you can use a projector, which can be hooked up to the computer or TV, to project the concert on the nearest wall.  Don’t forget the speakers!

6) Dance!

Please Note: The concert at Higher Ground starts at 9pm. While we know that’s on the late side for some, you have many options for your earlier evening hours:

- Show a short film on climate change.

- Have a local band do an early set.

- Many espresso-based dessert items.

Party Extras:

1) Teach Others. Download and print out our educational material on climate change to have on hand at your dance party.

2) Invite The Pros. Invite local groups working on climate change to have information tables at your dance party.

3) Break Bread. Have a community potluck before your dance party.

4) Document It. Take pictures of your dance party and send them to us at vt350dance [at] gmail.com.

5) Make Change. Ask your dance party partiers to join the Vermont Earth Institute EcoChallenge.

6) Make Noise. Write letters to your Senators, Representatives, and President. Write letters to business leaders. Write letters to the editor. Create a petition folks can sign. Make a video or slideshow of your party, and show it to your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and the people in your spinning class.

7) Make A Donation. Have a raffle or a silent auction and send the money to your favorite eco-charity (like the Vermont 350 Dance Party!).

Remember: You can make your event as large or small as you want. It can be massively public or hugely private. Doesn’t matter at all.  It’s just great to have you on board.

confusedNOTE: Feeling confused about the whole simulcast issue?  Not sure how to do it?  Having technical issues?

No worries!  Just contact us, and we’ll explain the whole thing.

The most important thing is that this should be easy, fun, and, inspiring!
